ULVAC HELIOT 900 Series helium leak detectors

ULVAC HELIOT 900 Series — Helium and Hydrogen Leak Detectors

The HELIOT 900 series is the current production generation of ULVAC helium mass spectrometer leak detectors. It detects both helium (⁴He) and hydrogen (H₂) by the vacuum method. All five models share the same 90° magnetic deflection analyser, turbomolecular pump, calibrated leak, and wireless tablet controller. They differ in body form factor, backing pump type, and backing pump capacity.

Verified Specifications — All 900 Series Models

Values confirmed from ULVAC Components Catalog Vol.11 (catalog 1855E-7 / 2018101000SP).

Selecting the Right Model

Fixed Test Station — 901 Series

The 901 series uses a compact base body without a mobile cart (low-height cart is an available option). Choose the 901 for bench-mounted test stations, fixed installations, and clean-room environments where floor space is limited and the instrument stays in one location.

  • 901W1: oil rotary pump — lowest power (600 VA), smallest pump capacity
  • 901D2: dry scroll pump — no oil, larger pump capacity (90/108 L/min vs 30/36 L/min), lower power (500 VA)

Mobile Cart — 904 Series

The 904 series is mounted on a mobile cart with large wheels, a foot-operated brake, stepper, and a secured tablet holder. All three 904 models share the same 444×660×991 mm (W×D×H) cart dimensions.

  • 904W2: oil rotary pump, 135/162 L/min — largest capacity oil-pump model
  • 904D3R: dry Roots pump, 250 L/min — medium dry pump, no oil, suitable for clean environments
  • 904D4R: dry Roots pump, 500 L/min — largest capacity, highest throughput

Test Modes

ModeMax. inlet pressurePumping speed (He)Min. detectable LRUse case
ULTRA flow<2 Pa5 L/s<5×10⁻¹³ Pa·m³/sHighest sensitivity; small test volumes at high vacuum
FINE flow<100 Pa1 L/s~10⁻¹² Pa·m³/sMedium sensitivity; test objects that cannot reach ULTRA pressure
GROSS flow<1,200 Pa~10⁻¹° Pa·m³/sFast pre-screening for large leaks
SnifferN/A (pressurised test object)N/A~10⁻⁹ Pa·m³/sExternal surface scanning with AS9/BS9/BT9 probe
