ULVAC HELIOT MONO module-type helium leak detector — compact self-contained unit for machine integration

ULVAC HELIOT MONO — Module-Type Helium Leak Detector for System Integration

The HELIOT MONO is a compact module-type helium and hydrogen leak detector designed specifically for integration into automated leak test machines, production lines, and equipment where the leak detector must be embedded rather than used as a stand-alone instrument. Unlike the HELIOT 900 series, the HELIOT MONO has no built-in display or tablet controller — it is controlled entirely via external interfaces (EXT.IO, analogue DC, serial, USB).

Key Features

  • High pumping speed: 3.0 L/s with max. connection pressure 100 Pa — fast response and cleanup reduces test cycle time
  • Compact: W360×H229×D310 mm, 13 kg — fits into machine cabinets and equipment enclosures
  • Vertical or horizontal installation: flexible orientation for equipment design
  • Single access surface: all connections on one face for ease of machine integration
  • Display-less design: no tablet or panel required; all control via external interface
  • External valve control basic sequence (Type G option): no separate external valve control PLC programming required
  • Hydrogen detection: detects H₂ in addition to ⁴He — alternative tracer gas support
  • Copper-free gas contact parts: prevents contamination issues in rechargeable battery and aluminium production applications
  • Configurable by PC: setup and parameter configuration via PC software “HELIOT monitor”

Interface and Control

The HELIOT MONO is controlled entirely through its external interfaces. No manual operation from the instrument is possible. The control options are:

  • EXT.IO: digital I/O signals for start, stop, mode, PASS/FAIL output — standard PLC integration
  • DCV 0–10 V analogue output: analogue leak rate voltage output proportional to measured leak rate
  • Serial interface: RS communication for status and data logging
  • USB + HELIOT monitor software: PC-based configuration of all parameters, data logging, calibration management

Typical Applications

  • Automated production line leak test stations (integrated into machine cabinet)
  • Rechargeable battery cell and module leak testing (copper-free contacts)
  • Aluminium pressure die cast component testing
  • Multi-station production leak test systems where multiple HELIOT MONOs operate in parallel
  • OEM integration into test equipment built by machine manufacturers
  • Any application requiring the smallest possible footprint and external-only control

Important Notes for Integration

  • DC 24 V power supply required: the HELIOT MONO is not powered directly from AC mains. A 24 V DC power supply (300 W or above) must be integrated into the machine.
  • Backing pump must be provided externally: confirm backing pump connection type (NW16 fore line port) and select a compatible pump with sufficient capacity for your test cycle.
  • Commission and calibrate after integration: the first calibration after integration into a machine must be performed with an external traceable reference leak. Internal calibration settings must be configured via HELIOT monitor software.
  • Type G option: if the machine PLC is not designed to control the HELIOT valve sequence, the Type G option provides a built-in basic valve control sequence that eliminates the need for external valve logic.

Service and Support

We provide commissioning, calibration, repair, and spare parts for the HELIOT MONO in all markets. For new integrations, we recommend a commissioning service visit to verify correct machine integration, external interface wiring, and initial calibration.
