ULVAC HELIOT 900 tablet controller test display — leak rate reading during Fine Flow test mode

Sniffer Probes and Accessories for ULVAC HELIOT

ULVAC HELIOT sniffer probes connect to the instrument’s sniffer port and allow leak detection by scanning the outer surface of a pressurised test object. Three sniffer unit types (AS, BS, BT) are available in different hose lengths. All are compatible with the HELIOT 900 series. State the complete HELIOT model designation when ordering.

Sniffer AS Units

The AS9 is the standard sniffer unit for the HELIOT 900 series. It connects directly to the sniffer port on the HELIOT instrument body. Available in three hose lengths: 2 m, 5 m, and 10 m.

Service component for AS9: Capillary tube assembly (part number 210006885300) — replaceable capillary tube for the AS9 sniffer tip. Required when the capillary is contaminated, clogged, or damaged. Install only when the instrument is vented and powered off. Confirm the correct capillary specification for the AS9 variant before ordering.

Sniffer BS Units

The BS9 is a remote sniffer unit with an extended probe body and micro separator element. The micro separator (part i-3, model VFJ44, part number 210006394600) must be replaced when sniffer sensitivity drops. Available in three lengths.

Sniffer BT Unit

The BT9 is an enhanced sniffer with an integrated separator assembly. Uses the same micro separator element (VFJ44, 210006394600) as the BS9.

Sniffer Testing Technique

  • Hold probe tip 3–5 mm from surface being scanned
  • Scan speed: 10–20 mm/second — slower near suspected leak areas
  • Keep probe perpendicular to surface where possible
  • Test in still air — draughts carry helium away from leak sites
  • Minimum 10% helium partial pressure in test object for reliable detection; 100% helium at >0.1 MPaG gives best sensitivity
  • Sniffer sensitivity (AS9): nominally 10⁻⁸ Pa·m³/s — compare to vacuum method at <5×10⁻¹³ Pa·m³/s

HELIOT ZERO Sniffer Unit (ASZ Series)

The HELIOT ZERO uses a separate sniffer unit series (ASZ) — not interchangeable with the AS9/BS9/BT9 used on the HELIOT 900 series.
